Sightseeing and listening are all
important strength of human assimilation. Inasmuch one is living, such is a
rapt recipient of signals. What you see and listen to, obviously tend to become
part of you ___when it is part of you ___ it can appreciate to be your
character. Of a truth, you can tell, that your ways of life has changed to
godliness and virtues as you internalized the Word of God and the Word has become
flesh, obviously seen by all who knows your former conduct and now speaks of
the Lord's testimonies in you. For faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word
of the God, what you hear ultimately draw out a visual imagery which is like a picture to sight and you become what you see. 2 Corinthians 3:18 says: But we
all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are
being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the
Spirit of the Lord. Beholding as in a mirror connotes "reflecting" as
well as "looking into." As we behold the glory of the Lord, we are
continually transformed into the same image by the Spirit of the Lord. We then,
with ever-increasing glory, reflect what we behold.
Undoubtedly, one can see from the
above scriptural verse that one reflect what he beholds. Let us put it to
ourselves, what do we give our sight to? Apart from what we see as we navigate
this earth ___which itself is a matter, another razing havoc is the media. Is
it not an issue when media is now the dictatorship for some people! You now
talk, live and even your disposition is like the proceedings of the media. The
tyranny of what you watch on cables has almost make good news to ceased from
your mouth, you talk with folks almost all day about the terrible things
happening around the world, God forbid that you talk much on the havoc the
devil has caused than the evergreen praise of God; who cannot do evil forever.
Alas! Why you are so cable-styled
so much that you feel even your spouse is not man enough for you or your woman
is not queenly hair styled or dresses enough for you. And you tend to judge him
or her by the last few minute watch on cable, oh! Is it now you don't really
like her speech pattern? I saw a show program on cable the other day, was so
tickled, the program was aired by Jerry Springer where strippers (a performer
who provides erotic entertainment by undressing to music) claims another
person's lady or man with enthusiasm and it was great fun to his audience.
Media we say with courtesy; this
upcoming program is for so age bracket. I ask, where will you send your
children to who are below that age, out or where? And come to think of it are
you always with them at home? Nevertheless, I know one can sieved out cables to
proper channels befitting godliness.
Not a little havoc the media has done to people in general, even some believer skip off the time to rest and be given to African Magic till late in the night and have to rush up to work early in the morning in the expense of their morning devotion before the throne of God and of the Lamb. Another aspect one need to take cognizant of is what magazine and daily news papers shows and tells you; hope those things are not becoming your thought already? Remember they can be expert in framing things up.
Hence, don't let the Word of God slip off from you and the doing factor Acts 1:1. Live by the proceedings of the Spirit, media is never an epistle to live by, but the Word. For the kingdom of God are not meat and drink; but righteousness and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost Romans 14:17. Choose what you watch and listen to by the Spirit. And know also that anything whatsoever that shift men's focus from God to base things awaits God's judgement.
